For the first time, a complete day almost without rain that my shoes could dry!
I started in the Machland. From there I cycled via Melk through some wine-growing areas to Wien, where I also had one rest day to explore the city.

I might have overdone it with breakfast and lunch today—0.5kg of muesli, 0.5 liters of milk, and two bananas left me feeling quite bloated. After that, I could barely bend over due to my swollen stomach!
The landscape became increasingly picturesque after passing Călărași, with more horses appearing along the roadside, adding to the charm of the journey. In the evening, I got lucky when a rain front could not reach me. To top it off, I met some very hospitable Romanians who kindly invited me into their home. Although they only spoke Romanian, we managed to communicate using the iTranslate app.
Transalp 2013
Diese Etappe führt von Trafoi aus auf einer Passstraße mit unzähligen Spitzkehren hinauf auf das 1000 Meter höher gelegene Stilfser Joch.
Von dort geht es über den Umbrailpass weiter auf den Bocchetta di Forcola, dem mit 2768m, höchsten Punkt unserer Tour. Die Abfahrt vom Bocchetta di Pendolo mündet von einem wunderschönen, sich in das Tal schlängelnden, Trail in einen Schotterabhang mit recht grobem Schotter, bis man letztendlich in Bormiò ankommt.
Das Etappenziel Santa Caterina Valfurva erreichten wir am Spätnachmittag und somit hatten wir die am Vortag verloren gegangene Zeit wieder aufgeholt.
