History

trackbib was created in 2014 (trackbib v1) to create custom tour plans with perfectly tailored paper maps. This allowed for minimal distractions while on tour. Back then, typically only one GPS device was available and a paper map was necessary as backup in case of technical issues. However, over the years technology has continuously advanced and today a primary GPS device along with a navigation-enabled backup device is often available, making paper maps less essential.

As technology advanced, trackbib evolved as well. Exactly 10 years after its initial release, the original full-stack Java EE (JEE) application was replaced by a modern single-page application (SPA) with a separate REST API. This new version still enables tour management while focusing on automated aggregation of training data and its analysis. For maximum control and highest data protection requirements, the platform can be hosted in dedicated environments using minimal resources.
